PREPARATION GUIDE

Preparing Sea Moss, Your Way

From traditional whole sea moss preparation to the simplicity of powder, there is more than one way to incorporate sea moss into everyday food and drink.

TWO FORMATS

Whole Sea Moss or Powder

Whole sea moss offers the traditional preparation experience: rinse, soak, blend, and prepare it into gel.

Sea moss powder offers a more direct format that can be measured and incorporated into food or drinks with less preparation.

Neither approach is inherently better. The right format depends on how much preparation you want to do and how you prefer to use it.

WHOLE SEA MOSS

From Dried Sea Moss to Gel

Whole sea moss requires a little more preparation, but gives you full control over soaking, blending, and the final texture.

STEP-BY-STEP

Preparing Whole Sea Moss

The process is simple. Cleanliness, fresh water, and gradual blending matter more than complicated preparation methods.

01

Rinse Thoroughly

Rinse the dried sea moss several times under cool fresh water. Gently work through the strands to remove natural residue, salt, sand, or loose particles from harvesting and drying.

02

Cover with Fresh Water

Place the rinsed sea moss in a clean bowl and cover it generously with fresh drinking water. Allow enough room for the sea moss to expand as it hydrates.

03

Allow It to Soften

Leave the sea moss to soak until it becomes soft, hydrated, and noticeably larger. A soaking period of approximately 12–24 hours is commonly used.

04

Drain & Give a Final Rinse

Once hydrated, drain the soaking water and give the sea moss a final rinse with fresh water before blending.

05

Blend Gradually

Add the soaked sea moss to a blender with a modest amount of fresh drinking water. Blend until smooth, adding more water gradually until you reach the consistency you prefer.

06

Transfer & Refrigerate

Transfer the freshly prepared gel to a clean, sealed container and refrigerate it promptly.

TEXTURE

Make the Gel the Way You Prefer

There is no single required gel consistency. The amount of water used during blending determines whether the result is thicker and spoonable or lighter and easier to pour.

Thicker
Use less water

Useful when you prefer a dense, spoonable texture.

Lighter
Add water gradually

Useful when blending into drinks, soups, or recipes.

SEA MOSS POWDER

A More Direct Format

Powder does not require the rinsing, soaking, and blending steps used for whole sea moss.

Instead, it can be measured and incorporated more directly into food and drinks according to the usage guidance provided on the product packaging.

GOOD TO KNOW

Add powder gradually when mixing into liquids or foods and allow it time to disperse. Texture can vary depending on the recipe and amount used.

WAYS TO USE POWDER

Keep Preparation Simple and Clean

Good preparation is not only about texture. Clean utensils, appropriate storage, and careful handling help maintain the quality of the food you prepare.

01

Use Clean Equipment

Wash bowls, utensils, blender parts, and storage containers thoroughly before preparation.

02

Keep Prepared Gel Refrigerated

Store freshly prepared gel in a clean, sealed container in the refrigerator.
